If there is any Nollywood actress I am more eager to write about, it is definitely Genevieve Nnaji; who is one of the most popular and commercially successful actress in Nollywood with multiple endorsements. In this Nollywood discussion, I will be sharing "What I like about Genevieve Nnaji".

First, let me provide some background information about Genevieve Nnaji.

According to information publicly available, Genevieve was born May 3, 1979 in her hometown, Mbaise in Imo State (Nigeria), but grew up in Lagos. She is the fourth of eight children. Her father worked as an engineer and her mother as a teacher.

Genny attended the Methodist Girls College Yaba, before heading onto the University of Lagos. While at the university Genevieve began auditioning for acting opportunities in Nollywood. But wait, let me rewind back to her childhood days.

Genevieve Nnaji is said to have started her acting career as a child actress in the then popular television soap opera – Ripples at the age of 8. She also reportedly featured in several commercials some of which include Pronto beverage and Omo detergent. In 1998 at the age of 19 she was introduced into the growing Nigerian film industry with the movie – “Most Wanted”. [Read more on NMN website: http://bit.ly/1biAdJw

Now, what I like about Genevieve Nnaji is outlined in the points below:

            1. I like Genevieve Nnaji because when she came into the Nollywood industry, she saw and she conquered. Genny conquered in the sense that she pretty much (with her pretty self), excelled in all her movie roles.

            2. I like Genevieve Nnaji because she is a trendsetter. A trendsetter not in the sense of idea or fashion, but in her role interpretation, her classiness, and being a role model others are today emulating.

            3. I like Genevieve Nnaji because she helped the Nollywood movie industry grow significantly. Many who watched her movies the first time, got hooked immediately and could not get enough of Genevieve. All of these contributed to the demand for more Nollywood movies by hundreds of millions of people worldwide.

            4. I like Genevieve Nnaji because she is super-photogenic and takes really gorgeous pics. Some of her lovely pics have been said to put smile on the face of her fans.

            5. I like Genevieve Nnaji because she from time-to-time, keep her fans updated on things she is up to via her various social media profiles on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Not every Nollywood actress know the importance of social media these days, but Genny on the hand has mastered the art.

All of the above reasons and more explains why I like Genevieve Nnaji. I like her movies, I like her photos. I also like her entrepreneurial mindset. This ends my discussion on Nollywood Social Network.

What do you like about Genevieve Nnaji?

[You too can start a new discussion about your favorite Nollywood actors and African celebs. ]

Osita Iheme is currently the Photo of the Week on Nollywood Social Network and it is only right to write about the talented Nollywood actor, popularly known as PawPaw in Nigerian movies.

              1. Osita Iheme is a natural actor, and arguably the most suitable role interpreter for mischievous roles and characters, especially when playing the character of a kid in Nollywood movies. I like the way PawPaw acts.

              2. Osita Iheme is also a philanthropist who gives from the heart and has been engaged in several community movements along with his partner/colleague/friend, Chinedu Ikedieze -- using his fame to draw attention to life-threatening events in the Nigerian society, including the flood disaster. I like Osita Iheme for his philanthropic involvement.

              3. It is only right to say everybody likes (or even loves) Osita Iheme. I mean, the guy is extremely funny and he is one of the actors you can sit down to watch his movies with families and friends without worrying about nudity. I like Osita Iheme because he is liked by many all over the world.

              About Osita Iheme

Osita Iheme hails from Ubomiri in Imo State, and was born February 20th 1982 into a family of five children. He is widely known for playing the role of "Pawpaw" in the film Aki na Ukwa alongside Chinedu Ikedieze. In 2007 Osita received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the African Movie Academy Awards. He is considered to be one of Nigeria's most famous actors and has starred in over 150 Nollywood films.

I just stumbled upon this article on ConnectNigeria website, suggesting a list of 5 Nollywood actresses to watch out for this 2014 year. What do you think of the actresses that made the cut?

ConnectNigeria: "The Nigerian movie industry is fast evolving as industry players are putting in more effort to build Nollywood – as the industry is called – to international standard. As 2014 rolls by, Connect Nigeria’s entertainment beat writer, Michael Abimboye, examines five actresses that are expected to rise higher."

The Five Nollywood Actresses to watch out for in 2014, according to ConnectNigeria, are:
                1. Damilola Adegbite
                2. Linda Ejiofor
                3. Tamara Eteimo
                4. Uru Eke
                5. Kiki Omeli
                The full story here: http://connectnigeria.com/articles/2014/02/22/5-nollywood-actresses-to-watch-out-for-in-2014/

Few days ago, I opened a Nollywood discussion on "What I like about Mercy Johnson" (see it here: http://www.nollywoodsocial.com/discussion/5/ ) who is the photo of the day/week. After watching Mama G (Patience Ozokwor) in the movie Three Generals, I decide to write about her today. I like her role in the film.

What I Like About Mama G of #Nollywood (Patience Ozokwor)

                  1. When you know Nollywood, you know who Mama G is. If am not mistaken, she have starred in over 200 Nigerian movies. If you want to talk Nollywood with anyone, make Mama G part of the discussion. She is a Hot topic in many global African settings. I like the fact Mama G contributed to the growth and demand for Nollywood.

                  2. Mama G has to be the best at playing a wicked mother-in-law in Nollywood movies. Most of the character (story) she plays are usually real-life events that takes place in some African homes; with a sprinkle of Nollywood magic to the script to make it more more interesting. You can learn by watching Nigerian movies. I like Mama G and her role interpreting skills (characters).

                  • Daughter in-law: "Good morning ma".
                  • Mama G: "What is good about this morning? ehh??".

                  3. Patience Ozokwor, from what I gathered, has been a single mother (a widow) for a while; holding her ground and supporting not only her family, but her community at large. She is an inspiration to other widows in her community. I like the fact Mama G is an inspiration.

                  4. #MamaG is a mother of four children (2 sons, 1 daughter, and another child she adopted after her husband died). For supporting her community, Patience Ozokwor was honored with a chieftaincy title "Ada Eji Eje Mba 1 of Ngwo" at her hometown in Enugu State. I like her leadership skills as a mother.

                  5. It is only right to say or think, everybody likes Mama G, at least if you have watched any of her movies, you would find a reason to like her. Therefore, I like the fact Mama G is loved by her global fans, promoters and supporters.

This ends my Nollywood discussion. What do you like about Mama G?

Since Mercy Johnson is the Photo of the Day on Nollywood Social Network; thought I should write few things about the star actress in this discussion titled "What I like about Mercy Johnson, the Photo of the Day".

                  1. I like Mercy Johnson because she is one Nollywood actress that dominated Nollywood like no other. And she managed to dominate Nollywood consecutively due to her role interpreting skills, nothing else or less.

                  2. Many people I have spoken to about Nigerian movies here in the US (a different market), may not know all the actress in Nollywood but they sure know Mercy Johnson aka "Dumebi".

                  3. Mercy Johnson is humble. Both to her fans and the good people she works with.

                  4. People are constantly searching for Mercy Johnson movies. Her movies is the type you can sit down with your family members and enjoy over a good laugh and sometimes her movies gets emotional. Dumebi is one of my favorite where she played a lead role along with Kenneth Okonkwo.

I watch many of her movies on Nigeria Movie Network: http://www.nigeriamovienetwork.com/tags/mercy-johnson/page-7/

                  5. Finally, I have heard and read some say they would literally stop watching Nigerian movies if Mercy Johnson quits acting. Now, thats a very strong statement, which explains how much passion people have for Mercy Johnson as an actress, who also happens to be the photo of the day on NollywoodSocial.

This ends my discussion. What do you like about Mercy Johnson?
